| | | | | Kelly Western | | | Kelly Western Kelly Western (Marshall) has been building her personal yoga practice since 2000. She came to start practicing yoga after looking for something that complemented working out at the gym and running since she was experiencing injuries and pain from the workouts. After her first yoga class, Kelly was hooked on how it made her body feel and how her mind started to calm down and release some of the tension she was holding. After practicing yoga for a few months, she noticed huge changes in her stress level and the chronic pain she was experiencing had totally disappeared. Since then, she has tried all sorts of yoga styles from many different teachers. In order to bring this gift of Yoga to others, she took the Hatha Yoga teacher training through the Shambhava School of Yoga at the Ashram in Rollingsville, CO. She has also taken workshops with Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee, Cyndi Lee, G.K. Khalsa, Gary Kraftsow, Simon Park and numerous others. Her science educated background has helped her understand the workings of the body on both an anatomical and physiological level. She keeps up with her education by reading many books about yoga philosophy and related material. Her hope of bringing more yoga to Eagle, Gypsum and the Vail Valley are realized in the opening of Yoga off Broadway and she wants you to find that it is a very open and welcoming place for every type of person. Please come and visit us soon! | | | | New Teacher: Amy Herron | Yoga! The exclamation point sums it up. Yoga has been a wonderful gift to my life, a gift that I have given to myself and hope to share with others. I recently returned from taking a Yoga Teacher Training Course with Himalaya Yoga Valley in Goa, India. The Teacher Training Experience I had in Goa, India challenged my perspective on life, myself, my idea of usefulness, kindness, etc. It will (hopefully) help me be better to everyone I encounter in my life. Yoga is about discovering your inner self, seeing you for who you are and who you want to be. Yoga is a step towards becoming that person, the person you want to be. I believe Yoga helps to foster a sense of inner balance and creates a more steady, calm mind, body and spirit. As my yoga practice has deepened, so has the since of joy, peace and calm within my life. I find that doing yoga makes me a happier person and I want to share that sense of happiness with everyone I encounter. | | | | | Margot Ort | . | | Margot Ort Margot has a powerful yoga practice of her own from which she draws the energy to teach others. I have a beautiful husband named Jeff who inspires me to live life with a sense of humor. My 5-year-old son reminds me that even the mundane rituals in life should be enjoyed zestfully. I owe these 2 precious blessings and all that I hold dear in this life to my Father God who gently leads me daily down this path called life. I have been a Fitness professional since 1991, instructing Group Exercise and Personal Training. In 1996 we moved from Dallas, Texas to Nashville, TN and this is where I took my 1st yoga class. I remember while in pigeon becoming emotional and a bit nauseous. I mentioned this to the instructor and she explained that I was probably releasing some built up tension and stress, that this could manifest itself through emotion while in this pose. I remember thinking that this was wild, how could stretching do this? So, I dabbled in a few classes here or there for the next 5 years. But, it was in 2001 that I began my pursuit of knowledge and began to develop a practice. I have a concrete base in the science of movement and alignment. This knowledge allows me to assist my students with a good foundation. Naturally due to my fitness education background I was drawn to Yogafit. Yogafit is a Yoga Alliance approved teacher training that allows the instructor to self pace their studies. I love taking classes from a variety of instructors. My motto is don't judge, explore, keep going back to the basics, laugh, play, and continue to learn. If you like to have fun during your yoga class, come join me! Whether you are a beginner or advanced student, I am devoted to supporting you with your individual intentions for practice.Come share your time with me, it is my honor and blessing to instruct. I promise to open my heart to you and be right there with you on your yoga journey. | | | | | Angie Young | | | Angie Young From a very young age, Angie witnessed her mother practicing yoga, and would join in when she saw her mom doing something "cool", like balancing on her hands in the crow pose (Bhakasana). Although she loved the challenge of those poses, she was hesitant to fully commit herself to yoga and eventually forgot about it until years later. While she attended college she decided to try yoga out again and joined a bikram studio, mostly for the workout and to gain flexibility, but what she found was so much more. She realized that with her yoga practice, she had begun to articulate her thoughts more clearly, her concentration improved and she became a more accepting and open person. With this wonderfully addictive new attitude, Angie began to study various types of yoga, and fell in love with Vinyasa (a series of yoga poses connecting in a flow). After practicing yoga seriously for twelve years, Angie finally became a certified vinyasa yoga instructor in hopes to pass on this love affair with yoga to the world. When you come to Angie's classes, you will find that she focus on the connection of body, mind and spirit. She empowers her students to build confidence within themselves through visualization and encourages them to take responsibility for their own practice. You will definitely feel the healing power of yoga when taking her classes, but most of all, believing that laughter is the best medicine, you will feel the fun and joyous atmosphere she strives to create in every class. | | | | Natalie Rader | | | Natalie Rader Natalie has lived in the Vail Valley for 6 years. She is inspired by life in the mountains and feels blessed to live in such a beautiful setting. She believes that this inspiration helps her in her yogic path. Natalie found yoga while looking for a way to deepen her personal meditation practice. Soon she realized that yoga was a pathway to a joyous heart and a peaceful mind. Natalie was fortunate enough to be introduced to the teachings of Sri Yogi Dharma Mittra, creator of the Master Yoga Chart of 908 Postures. She became certified in his Dharma Yoga Shiva Namaskar Vinyasa in 2009, a challenging and physically absorbing vinyasa series. Following the tradition of her Teacher, her classes incorporate yoga nidra (psychic sleep), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation into each asana practice. Natalie feels extreme gratitude to her teachers and mentors at the Dharma Yoga Center as well as in Vail, CO: especially her dog, with whom in her spare time she âÂÂstudiesâ the art of downward (lying) dog, and her cat, a master of savasana. | | | | | Yvonne Schwartz | | | Yvonne Schwartz Yvonne RYT, MT-BC, moved to the Vail Valley a few years ago from Phoenix, Arizona. After eight years of practicing and studying yoga she began her first formal teacher training at the South West Institute of Healing Arts in Phoenix. While at SWIHA she studied Anusara, Vinyasa, and Restorative Yoga with Mary Bruce and Jim Keegan. Upon moving to Colorado, Yvonne completed her 200 hour RYT yoga certification through Inner Power Yoga with R.R. Shakti. Through her certification with Inner Power, Yvonne learned the art of adapting yoga to meet the needs of different populations of people. She found this style of adapting yoga to reach all people complimented her previous studies in music therapy. Yvonne teaches Vinyasa Flow inspired yoga classes. She teaches all level classes and loves the challenge of meeting each person's needs (beginner to advanced) encouraging them to grow their own personal practice. Yvonne continues to expand her teaching and personal practice through regularly attending yoga classes, conferences, and continuing education. She thanks all of the teachers and yogis that continue to inspire her teaching, yoga practice, and life. | | | | | Rachel DeLong | | | Rachel DeLong Bio Coming Soon | |
