Amanda began practicing yoga in 1997 while studying psychology and the relationship between our minds and bodies.   She was drawn to the practice of yoga for its influence on both the physical and mental bodies and its emphasis on a spiritual life.  She noticed that during periods of yoga practice life seemed to slow down a little and she felt more present and joyful.  After developing a personal practice for a couple of years, Amanda enrolled in the Kripalu Bodywork training program.  It was during this time that she experienced the profound effects of a regular yoga practice and lifestyle.  The bodywork training confirmed the mind-body connection and the power of yoga to release emotional and physical tensions within the body.

Amanda believes that we practice living on our mats.  We encounter our fears, insecurities, doubts, joy, happiness, and freedom.  How we respond to them during practice is how we often show up in life.  During every pose there is an opportunity to be our best self, our most powerful, greatest self.  Every moment we have to choice to be who we want to be.  After trying different styles of yoga, Amanda found Vinyasa flow yoga.  Her classes are light hearted and ask you to tap into the best teacher-yourself.  Inspired by teachers Seane Corn, Sean and Karen Conley, John Friend, Caroline Myss, and John Kabat-Zinn she strives to make class personal to the student so each class is an opportunity to know yourself better and find more joy in your life.

First introduced to the practice of seva, or selfless service, at Kripalu Amanda believes that service plays an important part in our happiness.  She is involved with Off the Mat, Into the World and has trained with Seane Corn, Hala Khouri, and Suzanne Sterling.
